Casa Amatller

The Casa Amatller

Whilst kids enjoy a workshop at the Casa Amatller,  parents can visit the Manzana de la Discordia trio of Gaudi’s famous Passeig de Gràcia buildings.

The Manzana de la Discordia ( three adjoining buildings known as the “Block of Discord”) consist of the Casa Amatller itself, the Casa Lleo Morera (by Domènech i Monaner) and Gaudi’s most famous of buildings on this street, the Casa Batllo.  The Fundacio Institut Amatller d’Art Hispanic was established in 1941 by Teresa Amatller, daughter of Antoni Amatller, a chocolate manufacturer, traveller and art collector.  The foundation promotes research into the history of Hispanic Art and runs workshops and other activities for children in this beautiful building by a contemporary of Gaudi, Puig i Cadafalch.   On Saturdays children’s workshops take place which end with participants enjoying a cup of the famous Amatller hot chocolate.
