The year 2012 marks one hundred years since the sinking of the vessel and an event that remains in collective memory. Since 1912, when the ship was lost, 200 items have been recovered from where the vessel lies 4km under the Atlantic Ocean. Together they have been used to recreate the story of the world's most famous boat, from its construction through to its most tragic end.
Titanic: The Exhibition faithfully recreates the compartments and cabins of the ship and features the official list of passengers and the names of those retrieved who lost their lives. From prominent items such as books, photographs and passenger letters down to shoes and a piece of coal from the boiler, all the articles on display have an undeniable fascination that surrounds them.
The exhibition was created with the collaboration C.G. Wetterholm, the experienced Titanic historian who took part in the recovery tasks of the ship’s remains in the 1990's. It has become one of the most visited travelling exhibitions in the world.
