Take a cable-car ride for some great views of Barcelona and the chance to explore the city's castle. Enjoy a barbecue lunch and some woodland playtime.
The castle is an interesting place for kids to explore and also home to the Museum of Comics and Illustration (currently closed for renovation). You can access the Castle via bus or cable car from the Montjuic Funicular station (linked with Metro Parallel). Scheduled workshops and activities take place in the Children's Corner Rincón del Niño located in one of the rooms in the Patio de Armas. Outdoor cinema is also shown on a large screen in the grassy moat area on warm summer evenings. Also during the summer months a very relaxed bar opens up in the woodland at the back of the castle. La Caseta del Migdia, (follow signs along the port-view footpath) is a seasonal bar with DJ music, a barbecue lunch-menu and live music events. There is also a picnic area here, grass and shade. Just down from the castle's drawbridge entrance is a children's playground with cafeteria which features 2 super-long slides that will thrill the kids as they sweep down the slope from a unique vantage point over the city.
