Ludotecas or Espai Infantils are children’s play centres that either provide a crèche facility for your kids or a family space for you to enjoy with your children.
Some Ludotecas also offer full-time (daycare) facilities. Many Ludotecas are linked to a local Civic Centre or other public organisation. Most tend to open after schools hours and weekends although a few do offer earlier play times. Often you need to become a member and pay an annual fee although there are many pay-as- you-play options. It is well worth checking beforehand as times and days can vary according to age groups and demand.
Many centres offer a range of additional services such as hosting for children’s parties or summer camps and after-school workshops. The majority of these centres are for children over 3 years of age and parents do not accompany children. Be sure to check with your local Civic Centre, as they often have permanent Ludotecas or other activities and courses for children.
