La Marelle is a new and original space in La Ribera for children to play and local parents to hang out over coffee.  Run by French mum Alexandra Clua, the centre conveniently offers a café, ludoteca-style play area for younger kids and multi-lingual workshops and activities all under the same roof.  Opened as a cultural association, the Espai allows you to join as a member and enjoy extra benefits.  El Café de la Canella serves teas, coffees, breakfasts and afternoon cakes  and is the ideal place for mums' morning get-togethers or an afternoon play date.  Workshops already underway this Autumn are Yoga in English for children and parents, Music for Kids, infant reflexology, Experiment with Sounds for babies and Mòn atelier - an all-round movement, music, art and story session in French.

 

Soft Play in Barcelona


 On rainy days,  relax while your children let of some steam at one of Barcelona´s soft play centres.  Most centres open from the early evening as well as morning and afternoons at the weekends.  Usually featuring a play area for younger children, as well as a space for parents along with essential refreshments,  the centres typcially charge per hour of usage. Art Workshops at the European Museum of Modern Art


Every Sunday, kids can join an artistic workshop organised by the Escola Traç de Barcelona at the MEAM (Museu Europeu d’Art Modern). The weekly sessions, for ages 5 to 12 years, offer a fun way for children to make the most out of the works on exhibit.  From the surreallism of Picasso to the use of camouflage by both humans and animals, kids can learn about different techniques while visiting some of the works on display from the 21st and 20th century. Each child will then get the opportunity to create their own piece of art.  The MEAM is located in the beautiful Palau Gomis, in the back streets of the Barrio del Born and displays work from figurative artists.
