To celebrate World Museum day and promote cultural Barcelona, the city's museums offer free admission during the evening.  With more than 40 Barcelona musuems particpating in the event, La Nit dels Museus offers an unbeatable opportunity to see some of the city's heritage and the temporary exhibitions available in Barcelona's cultural centres.

 

The Fundació CatalunyaCaixa is holding a family party at the Pedrera paying hommage to the famous Catalan clown, Joan Buquet.  The day is all about clowns and Busquet's co-entertainer Oscar Rodríguez from La Puça will be there to entertain in an event that features children's activities, storytelling, shows and games. There will be plenty of opportunity to pick up some tricks at the circus workshops running throughout the day.

 

The huge family event of La Tamborinada takes place this Sunday in the Parc de la Ciutadella.   Organised by the Fundació La Roda, the Tamborinada is a day-long party in the park. Enjoy non-stop entertainment from clowns, circus acts, magicians, puppetteers and musicians as well as stalls running workshops and games.

 

If you have not yet visited the Historic Botanical Gardens of Barcelona (not to be confused with the main Jardí Botànic), then May 19th is the perfect opportunity to do so.  Tucked away behind the Palau Nacional, these secluded gardens offer some quiet respite from the city. There is also a small vegetable garden that you can see along with grass, seating areas and shade.

 

Discover the fascinating history of the man trapped in ice for more than 5,000 years!  Kids can have fun learning about the clues behind the archaelogical investigation into Ötzi, the oldest mummy in Europe.  At the Ötzi:La Momia del Gel exhibition, currently at the Museum of Archeology, you can find out how we know his age when he died, what he ate on his final day, why he was wearing leggings!
