Donkey Reserve Near Barcelona
If you would like to take the kids out of town for the day and see some of the Catalonian countryside, only 50km from Barcelona, inland from the Costa Maresme you can visit the Rucs del Corredor Donkey reserve. As well as serving as a refuge for donkeys, the centre offers visitors guided donkey rides through the beautiful National park of Montnegre i Corredor. Children can also take part in farm work, helping with cultivation and transporting water and wood by donkey. They can even bring their friends along for a group celebration or birthday...
Els Rucs del Corredor is one of the few reserves of this kind for Donkeys in Catalunya. It also has the added attraction of being located in the fabulous setting of the valley of Canyamars . The guided visit through the park lasts for about an hour and includes lunch, offering the whole family a relaxing ride through nature. Children can also take the opportunity to learn about the reserves work and get involved in various countryside tasks. The centre aims to find homes for the donkeys where they might serve a useful purpose in return for a high level of care.
The reserve also hosts children's parties with the option of a group donkey ride or guided visit. The centre can provide food for the occasion and all guests will be presented with a little chocolate donkey at the end of the day. Other tailored activities for larger groups can also be arranged.
