Babysitters  typically charge anywhere between €6 and €10 an hour. For more regular working hours it is more usual to pay a monthly fee. Part-time salaries are usually around €650 to €700 per month and full-time salaries around €800 to €1,000.

Some nurseries and schools have a before and after-hours childcare service in cases where parents are unable to keep to normal shool drop-off and collection times. You will also find that some ludotecas also offer child collection services after school.

Summary of experience:
The following experience is in Barcelona over the last 7 months:  I cared for a baby boy from the age of 11mths until 1year old, during the week days from breakfast till after lunch, mainly out of the house so that the mother and father could work from home.  I also cared for a 2 year old girl from before morning wake-up until the afternoon when her mother arrived home from work after 3pm. This included changing nappies, dressing her, preparing and feeding her breakfast and lunch, taking her out to the parks, putting her to bed, etc. She had a 10 year old brother who joined us for a few days.
Family friends also have a one year old and a 4 year old whom I visit regularly and occasionally help out with feeding, playing, bed time stories, put to bed, and babysit while parents go out for the evening. For me,  the best thing about kids is their fresh connection to JOY.
