30 Mar 2008 The 15th March was International Day of the Consumer, a date which has been respected for the last 15 years as a time to reinforce people's knowledge of responsible consumerism as well as increase awareness of consumer rights.
Barcelona is celebrating this day on the 6th April with the 4th annual "Festa del Consum Responsable", a family activity day along the Moll de la Barceloneta with workshops and entertainers. Guest stars include the pop group Macedonia and magician Mag Magoo.
The focus of this year's fair is "Know your rights". A recent survey carried out by the Catalan Consumer Agency, the ACC, revealed how 90% of Catalans are not fully aware of their rights as a consumer . The objective of the fair is to highlight the recourses available to consumers in their daily life. Workshops and entertainment at the fair are aimed at families with a special emphasis on children ages 3-12 years.
