Summer Activities for Children in Barcelona

Barcelona offers a variety of summer camp options for children throughout the summer holidays with a few camps running during the month of August. There are 100,000 places at public camps and several also run in English at private centres, international schools and nurseries.  If you are looking for a local day camp, you can also check with local ludotecas , civic centres , Esplais and sports centres.  Indoor soft play centres also schedule summer activities which as well as general play, include special workshops and art activities.

RecreAMB2 offers kids an intensive programme of stimulation through musical and art activities during the Summer holidays. Musical Activities include Musical chairs, creating a band where kids choose their own instrument and set up their own rythmic band and Guessing the instrument I am playing games.  Art activities involved drawing with your body, finger painting, flower painting and dancing with rainbow colours. All sessions last for a 2.5 hour period and take place from 9.30am to 12pm.  Dates run from 28th June until 30th July. The courses also run during the Christmas and Easter holidays. Collage offers a fun summer camp where kids explore their creativity through art, games, music and theatre activities.  Our team of experienced teachers provide a fantastic setting in a creative English speaking environment.
The theme for this year’s program is, Professions. From carpenters to doctors, community leaders to architects, together we’ll enjoy investigating various professions.  Every Friday the kids will have the opportunity to meet a surprise professional who will share their experience through a special activity.

Fashion design, cookery and experimental art workshops from 10am to 2pm on a weekly basis. Create your own designs: bags, skirts and tops as well as customise your own clothing. Explore printing techniques and painting on clothes and invent your own collection. In the Imagination workshops, kids can learn about the great artists and use different materials and techniques in 2D and 3D.  This workshop will also include cultural and nature excursions.

A story-based workshop designed for different age groups that looks at a different animal each week. A summer day camp that runs from June 28th to September 3rd for children ages 2 to 3 and 4 to 6 years old. Children are divided into groups of 9 with 1 group leader. The camp is run in English, Spanish and Catalan.  The children play outside in the centre's garden.  The hours are 9am to 2pm or 5pm.  Activities include movement, crafts, water games, storytelling, finger puppets and music.  Various weekly options are available with prices from 100 Euros. 

Outdoor Art Adventurers

Join in a discovery of the world of art in  two exciting enviromental, outdoor art adventures. Both workshops will be in English and will last for approximately 2 hours. The workshops include  art activities, creating your own masterpiece and involve dancing and movement plus free time for games to enjoy time together outdoors. The At the Beach workshop, at El Masnou beach on the 24th of July, will look at the works of renowned British enviromental artist Andy Goldsworthy and follow on by recreating some of his beautiful works. Children willl then produce their own masterpieces using recycled materials and whatever they can find to create something amazing! There will be time for some more fun and games and plenty of singing and dancing.  The In the Woods workshop, on July 31st, will take place in the Collserola national park.  This environmental workshop will look at a variety of artists who use nature as their inspiration and each child can choose to recreate whichever piece they choose. Families will also go on an exploration to search out objects to combine with recycled materials to create an original piece of their  own.  Cost: 16€ per child (discount for second child in family). The Fundacio Pere Tarrés

The Fundacio Pere Tarrés has a wide variety of summer programmes for both young children from 3-12 years and older teenagers at  various locations in and around Barcelona.  The foundation offers flexible programmes and timetables with an additional before and after care service.  Fundacio Pere Tarrés activities range from workshops to games, sports, drama, story telling, swimming and outings. 2010 Public Summer Camps in Barcelona

Barcelona offers kids a full range of summer camp options from daytime "casals" to overnight "colonias".  Children from the age of 3 years old can participate in these activities.   Some public nurseries, Escoles Bressol, also offer summer day sessions for children under 3.  Summer camps ususally take place from the last week of June, throughout July and during the first week of September. 

"Casals d'estiu" incorporate a range of activities from games and crafts to swimming and cultural visits. They are typically hosted by civic centres, ludotecas and civic centres. 

"Colònies" usually take place outside of the city with kids boarding in hostal-style accommodation located in natural settings. 

"Campaments" are summer camps in the true sense of the word with children staying in campsites and taking part in outdoor activities and excursions.

"Campus Olimpia" are specialised camps focusing on specific sporting activities. Children can take initiation classes in a particular sport or improve their skills in a sport they are already practising. Camps offered range from football and tennis to basketball and horseriding and take place at various leisure centres around the city.
