Situated just outside the city, The American School of Barcelona is a non-profit, independent, co-educational school that teaches the American curriculum. The school has recently become one of the only English language schools in the city to offer The IB International Baccalaureate Diploma programme. Classes run from pre-kinder, age 3 at the Early Childhood Centre, through to 12th grade and teaching is predominantly in English with a continued focus on Spanish and Catalan. Approximately 65% of students are Spanish and the school is authorized by the Spanish Ministry of Education and accredited by the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges. The school offers an extensive programme of sports and other extra-curricular activities. Pupils are encouraged to adopt a global outlook whilst remaining connected to their local community and culture. A school bus service is available from several locations in the city as well as Sant Cugat and Sitges.

The Benjamin Franklin International School is a non-profit, independent, co-educational day school located in the residential neighbourhood of Sarriá. The school is authorized by the Spanish Ministry of Education and fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges. All teaching is in English with optional Spanish and Catalan courses. The student body of around 440 students, is a controlled ratio of approximately one third American, one third Spanish and one third from around 30-40 other countries. At least half the students remain at the school from nursery through to 12th grade. Many on-campus and after-school activities are offered, including football, science club and dance. The teaching programme focuses on academic excellence , English proficiency and social responsibility.

Schiller International School (SIS) in Barcelona, Spain is an American college preparatory Middle and Senior high school, grades 7 through 12, ages 12 to 18. SIS Barcelona offers an American program for international students. Students typically continue their academic careers by studying at colleges and universities in the United States and abroad and the school is accredited by the National Independent Private Schools Association NIPSA .
