2008 Programme:

THE STORYTELLER ● Ages 3-8

Stella the Storyteller is back with more interactive stories for our youngest learners. This year, with her giant magical book, she’ll be bringing to life “Goldilocks and the 3 Bears” using humour, images, props and songs. The session lasts 45 minutes and students are encouraged to participate actively by speaking and singing. To prepare the children in advance, we provide a work pack with a summary of the story and vocabulary used (including colours, numbers and animals). There is also a CD with songs that the children can sing along to. The storyteller is an English speaker and professional actress. For groups of up to 60 students.

HAPPY EVER AFTER  ● Ages 6-8

And so sleeping beauty was awoken by a kiss from the prince and they lived happily ever after… Or did they? We follow the exploits of our hapless Prince Neville as he searches the fairytale countryside, looking for a princess to marry. On his way he meets Snow white, Rapunzel and an evil ugly witch determined not  to allow them have their ‘happy ever after’ ending. Students are asked to join in with the fun, sing along, and help Neville find the girl of his dreams. For groups of up to 160 children; only available after Easter.

FREAKY ● Ages 6-12

It’s time for summer camp and all the kids are excited about the possibilities of camping and adventure. But one child seems a little different from the rest; he’s not so happy joining in with the fun- he’s pale, he always wears black and he looks… different. To be honest everyone thinks he’s a bit weird and freaky. But wow, can he dance! As the end of camp dance competition looms, will he manage to overcome the bullies and win? Not if Eevi the Meanie has anything to do with it. Through comedy, music and dance we will address problems young children may be dealing with such as bullying and social inclusion. For groups of up to 160.

SPEAKING SPANGLISH ● Ages 12-16

This cross-cultural comedy follows the adventures of a Spanish girl who is coming to live in Britain for a year. Warned by her parents to watch out for “bad food, bad weather, unfriendly locals and football hooligans” she has some interesting preconceptions of how Britain will really be. On her journey she realises that some of these stereotypes are not altogether true and that Britain can be both diverse and welcoming. Wherever she goes she keeps running into Charlie, an English student she met on the flight over. This could be the start of something good… But with so many preconceptions and prejudices about each other, will they ever manage to get together? As we follow her adventures into the unknown we take a humorous look at stereo-types, traditions and customs of both England and Spain. We ask the audience to help her on her way by participating both verbally and physically. For groups of up to 160.

THE MISSING… ● Ages 16+

Welcome to 1920s Chicago, a city that swings to the sounds of jazz, but bows to the control of the gangsters. Something strange is going on in this town and Loli Lilo, our dedicated news paper reporter, is determined to get to the bottom of it. It started with a few vowels disappearing, the odd coma and full stop missing here and there, but now whole words from the English language have been stolen!! Only with our audience’s assistance can we get through the show to The E___ - oh no!! Help us to reconstruct sentences, place our punctuation, and put the vowels back into wrds b4 t’s  2 l8 (before it’s too late). An interactive musical comedy for higher level students.
