As you may already know, next year could see the introduction of obligatory schooling for all children resident in Catalunya of 3 years and over. Does anyone have a viewpoint on this? How do you think this would be enforced by the government? What would it mean for nurseries that currently offer places up to 6 years of age? How would this affect parents here on a temporary basis with young children? Why does the state feel this is necessary? Some Catalan parents are opposed to this measure, others are indifferent. What is the international communities perspective on this and can we do anything about it?

I did not start school until I was 6 and, considering I run my own business, I guess I can say it did not do me any harm.

I have a 7-month old baby and, because I work from home, I was looking forward to having him with me until he was 6. Life is too short and want to spend as much time with him as possible.

I have several possible theories to why the Catalan governmet wants to introduce compulsory schooling at 3 but, in my opinion, none justify making it compulsory.

In the UK kids start school at 4 and my to me it always seemed too much too early.
