I've started to teach my five-year-old to read and would love to sign her up for some kind of after-school or Saturday morning phonics/reading class for English-speaking kids. DOes anyone know of one? If not, would anyone be interested in getting a group together and looking for a teacher?

I was thinking of starting up a story telling group for kids - but something quite informal - my 1 year old is obsessed by books (probably ´cause I am!!) and I was thinking of more long the lines of a book share - where we all bring books and take it in turns to read a few stories and let the kids have a look at some of the books.

What do you think? I´ve been teaching English myself for the last 8 years (two years teaching children) and would be happy to be involved if you´re interested - we could do it on Saturday mornings but we´d have to find a space.

The Institute of North America in Barcelona have English classes for all ages including an English Reading and Writing course for Bilingual Children. Courses start from age 6 years and have a maximum of 8 students per class.

I can see I'm replying months later, but am still interested. My 5-going-on-6-year-old daughter (finishing P-5 at a public school now) has started reading pretty well in Spanish and Catalan, but I would like to forward her reading in English in a fun way, i.e. with other kids her age & level.
I live in Poblenou. What part of town do you live in?
Maybe we could get together one afternoon each week, starting now or in September. Frankly, Saturdays aren't so good for us. I have some material I've brought from the U.S., and will try to find more this summer.

Me too, I am interested in having my son join (5 year old) ... but he has no reading skills yet, and English is his second laguage (not native at all).
