Hi there
Can anyone help? Does anyone know the process of claiming the baby bonus?? I have the form, birth certificate, libro de familia... and now where & what do I do?
If anyone has any hints.. tips.. or general info it would be great!!

Hi,

The €2,500 baby bonus in Spain is known as "la deduccion por maternidad" and is available for babies born in Spain since 1st July 2007. You apply for your "abono" by filling out a form 140 or 141. If you are a working mum you do this at the Agencia Tributaria (tax office) or if you do not work at your local Social Security office. It all depends on whether the mother is working and not about the father. You have the right to the payment whether you work or not. When you go and get the form take your ID and Libro de familia as you can only do this once your baby has been registered.

There's another source of money, which is the Generalitat. They give about 500 euros each year for each kid 0 to 3 years old (pro-rating the years they are born and turn 3). You have to go to your local office of Benestar of the Generalitat. They fill in the form for you, at least at my local office, but you have to take the libro de familia, ID and maybe something else.

can i just add also ive only just discovered that theres 100 euros each month for working mothers paying tax in spain regardless of havign had the child in spain. im owed a years worth!!

The working mother's tax credit in Spain is either 100 euros in your bank account every month or a tax relief of 1200 at the end of the year. The choice is yours.

I think this is nation wide whereas the 650 euros a year or so for the first 3 years is from the Generalitat of Catalunya.

You just need to go to your Hacienda office (Agencia Tributaria) and fill out the form. I received it once and it was really quick.
