Hi, I didn't think you could get the vaccine here yet. Is this in the UK or US? I know they have had it a couple of years in the states. Apparently it does not have side effects. Maybe a little soreness where the jab is and maybe a little mark like you get with a BCG. That's what I read about it in the British papers last year. I think you can maybe pay for it here now but get it on the public health next year.

By the way do you know much about the Pneumoccocal vaccine. I paid to give it to my baby here. A friend has just had a child and wonders if it is still recommended. I don't think Spain has it on the National Health Service yet.

It is available here, but my pediatrician wasn't too keen on the vaccine. She says it was created for the US market, so really you're getting vaccinated against strains that aren't even problematic in Spain, and aren't getting vaccinated against the most common ones here.
It is quite expensive.
If you do decide to get it, you can try to wait until the child is closer to 2 and it is only one shot instead of 3 (less painful and also less costly).
