Registering for School
Registration dates for the 2010-2011 school year in Catalunya are now
available. The exact timelines for applications depend upon the school
age of your child. Although public nurseries begin initial
applications or, preinscipció, in May, infants, primary and
secondary education applications begin next week. Obligatory education
in Catalunya, as in all of Spain, begins from 6 years of age...see details of timelines for school registration
Excercise Classes for Mums
If you have had a baby recently and want to get back in shape, Correcoching
is an outdoor excercise class that you can take part in with your
little one. The low impact aerobic classes offer a great opportunity
to and meet up with other new mums. Sessions take place in the
Ciutadella park and use simple equipment for toning, including your

One Day Skiing from Barcelona
Skitren
passes may be bought from main Renfe train stations (Sants, Catalunya
and Passeig de Gracia) which offer a return train ticket to nearby ski
resorts, La Molina and Vall de Núria. The combi deal includes a

"Juguem a fer joguines? " is a creative family workshop, taking place this weekend, that teaches you how
to use wood and other materials to make children's toys. If you have a wooden toy at home that needs some tender loving care, you can also bring it along and have a go at restoring it. Carnival Costumes in Barcelona
"Carnaval"
is just around the corner with this year's main city parade taking
place on Saturday, February 13th. Children play a central role in the
celebrations and there will be no end of Carnival parades taking place
at schools, nurseries and local cultural centres. This is one time of
year when a costume for your child is a wardrobe essential. A great
place to head for ready-made costumes, masks and do-it-yourself
materials are the Abacus Cooperative Stores. Drim Juguetes toy shops

BCN Tots Carnival Party
BCN Tots along with other parent groups at the Centre Civic Parc Sandaru are holding a Carnival party next Tuesday, 2nd February. The "Petit Caranaval" evening includes face painting, mask-making and pancake eating along with children's entertainment from musical group Ai Carai!. Bright Sparks have a created a new course for children offering them the chance to create their very own magazine.
